Hot Gadgets! Scythe 18-in-1 USB 2.0 FDD & Card Reader Combo

"So you go out and get a floppy drive and maybe even just install it for OS installations then put it away. But what if you could get some added functionality from your device? Would that make a difference? After all, floppy drives are pretty handy for BIOS flashes and hardware firmware updates too. Enter Scythe, a company that has been around since late 2002 and are well known for their cooling products. Its aim is to give the DIY crowd something workable at a reasonable price. One of Scythe's latest projects was to create a device that works with a lot of different media types but also includes the functionality of a floppy drive. Basically the YD-8V08 is a 3.5-inch device that combines a card reader (18 formats according to the marketing media) and a floppy drive. Does it all work together? Read on to see for yourself."

3RSystem R240 "Zion" Mid-Tower Enclosure with LCD display

"One of the big selling points of this enclosure is going to be cost. With a MSRP of only US$66, this makes an excellent choice for an entry level case. Granted, it is not the best on the market, but from a price versus performance viewpoint, it does well for itself. Add in the fresh look of the front display and you have got yourself a decent find on your hands. Bottom line... If you are a budding enthusiast or are a value minded person and are looking for something that provides both serviceability and a unique look at a very reasonable price, the 3RSystem R240 may be just what the doctor ordered. If, on the other hand, you are an experienced builder or are looking for something a bit more high-end, you will be better served by looking elsewhere."

Fujitsu Lifebook P7230 Notebook Review

This review will be looking at Fujitsu's P7230 ultraportable. This tiny system is part of a new crop of ultraportable's that use LED backlighting in order to get great display performance while maintaining a long battery life. That is the main technological achievement of the system but it is by no means all it has going for it. The P7230 is built on an ultra mobile platform that includes an Intel Core Solo U1400 processor, an optical drive, and a 10.6" display. This smaller format factor allows for a very light weight and great portability but limits the power of the system as well as aspects that affect usability, like the size of the keyboard.

Samsung 275T

Some people say big may not be necessarily better. I guess they haven't had the luxury of working with a 27" LCD monitor. In this case, big has definitely been a huge plus in my book. Samsung once again brings a smile to my face and makes friends envious of the toys I get to play with.

Zalman CNPS9700 LED CPU Cooler Review

"A little while back we took a look at the Zalman CNPS9500 AM2 CPU cooler. It really performed well and we gave it our 10 out of 10 rating. So when I got the CNPS9700 LED in to review I was excited to see what it could do. The CNPS9700 LED is basically a larger version of the CNPS9500. Because it is larger it has a 110mm fan compared to the 92mm fan on the 9500. So this cooler should perform just as good if not better than the 9500. Read on to see if it does..."
