Ultra GRID Case PDF Print E-mail
Written by [t0rc]
Ultra has really gained popularity with their power supplies. Most of you have probably heard of or seen an X-Connect. However what some people don't realize is that Ultra produces a lot of products from cases to UPS systems and much more. Today we're looking at the Ultra GRID Case. From the outside it may look like a generic buy but I'm sure that some of you see it as a black canvas to start your next modding project. Is it worth buying? Time to find out.

Product: GRID Case (multiple versions available)
Manufacturer: Ultra
MSRP: $149.99 USD
Details:
  • Easy access front ports
  • Swing out bezel
  • Tool-less drive mounting system
  • PSU included
  • 120mm intake and exhaust (front/rear respectively) fans

Today we're examining a case from Ultra that seems set for traveling gamers. Black and slim the GRID mid-tower should be a gamers companion especially with the versions available. Offering a standard plethora of features such as tool-less drive installation and an included PSU as well as a swing-out bezel (door if you prefer) the Grid seems to be a general case. Of course the benefit of this is that you can certainly have your way with it, modding it a lot easier than some other cases. The case does offer 120mm intake and exhaust fans (front/rear respectively) which means a quieter, cooler case. The case also comes with a three year warranty which you can upgrade to a lifetime via the web. Now it's time to take a look at the case and see if perhaps a beast of a case is lurking under this seemingly common visage.

Here's some information and specifications from the Ultra website about the Grid ATX case:

Available Versions of the Grid

  • Black Grid Case with Side Window (ULT33138) (MSRP: $99 USD)
  • Black Grid Case w/ 500w V-Series PSU (the one in this review) (ULT33137) (MSRP: $149 USD)
  • Black Grid Case w/ 700w XVS PSU and Side Window (ULT40034) (MSRP: $179 USD)

As you can see a pretty normal loadout of features are apparent with the Grid. And for those of you running SLI or some other setup that requires more than one PCI-Express connector examine the other two versions available because as noted above the included PSU only carries one PCI-E connector — not two. Of course also pay attention to the other connections that come on the PSU to make sure that it will match your system.
