Final Thoughts

The G15 has its shortcomings but it is still the top gaming keyboard that we've had experience with. 54 programmable keys (set macros in game or at the desktop), automatically loading individual game profiles, decent amount of applications for LCD, wired to provide fast response, USB ports, cable management, lightweight, multimedia keys, and more come together to create a great peripheral for gamers. The original price tag of $99 is a little high but it is justifiable and you can find the keyboard for much lower online. The software was the source of the majority of the quirks we ran in to and they are quite annoying. With the ability to update, we're hoping that Logitech will release a new version or two that takes care of these issues. The keyboard is easy on the eyes and really the software allows such extensive customizing options that you should be able to configure the G15 to fit exactly what you want. Even if you can't find an application you want or the game you love doesn't have an applet for the LCD you can go ahead and code one with the SDK that is on the CD. Logitech seems to really be catering to gamers with the G15 as it's the closest thing to a perfect gaming keyboard that we've dealt with and if the software is fixed it'll one up that.
Thanks goes to Logitech for making this review possible.

- Easy to read keys, good design
- Cable routing option underneath
- LCD applications are actually useful; scripting allows any application needed to be created
- Programmable G keys creates a lot of opportunity
|
- Software is quirky (resets settings sometimes, crashes, resets preferences at random, num-lock doesn't stay on, etc.) and keys sometimes do not function, forcing a restart of the software
- Reading the LCD while playing a game may get you fragged
