Page 3 of 4 Features The G3 uses a USB 2.0 connection to send back 500 reports/second (6.4 megapixels). This drastic increase in reports per second (usually mice use around 60-125) enables even the most minute movement to be relayed quickly and accurately. When switching between a Bluetooth MX1000 and the G3 we were able to tell, even on the desktop, the slight delay in response. Another feature present on the G3 is the ability to adjust sensitivity on the fly. This feature has been quickly catching on and becoming a standard in gaming mice. By default without any SetPoint installation the mouse switches between 400dpi and 1600dpi when you press the button right below the middle mouse button. After installing the SetPoint software you are then able to set up to 5 different settings for dpi (min. 400dpi; max. 2000dpi) with mutually exclusive X-axis and Y-axis settings. The grip material (Logitech DryGrip) on the two primary mouse buttons does help to keep a good grip on the mouse during long gaming sessions.
The G3 uses the Logitech Laser Engine. Laser mice have a greater advantage over optical mice largely due to the details lasers are able to pick up on the microscopic level that optical mice miss. This results in not only a mouse that can be used on nearly any surface, but also leads to very accurate tracking. Also to help the mouse move quickly and ensure accuracy Logitech has attached PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) feet on the underside.
