Testing conducted in a Silverstone TJ06 with dual inline 120mm fans
The RX K8 doesn’t offer high performance, but by no means is it not respectable for a silent heatsink and fan combination. At 1.8 GHz, the speed of a 3000+, the operating temperature remained at 41°C, with an average increase of 1°C for every 200MHz of frequency added. To really pack on the heat, a clock speed of 2.8 GHz at 1.5 volts was used; temperature remained respectable in the relatively low 50°C range. This is excellent performance for a silent heatsink design.
Overall, Thermaltake’s RX K8 is an admirable heatsink/fan design. With a relatively low cost, incredibly quiet operation and respectable performance, this fan is perfect for any user looking for quiet computing. The one caveat is that this heatsink is not meant for overclockers. If your goal is frequencies and voltages far beyond stock, turn your sights elsewhere; this heatsink isn’t meant for that. For its excellent performance for such quiet operations, this heatsink earns Moditory’s Gold award and our Editor’s choice; its hard to beat this kind of value in a silent heatsink/fan design.
Thank you to Thermaltake for making this review possible.
