WinBackup 2.0 Professional PDF Print E-mail
Written by Spork

As far as day to day computing goes, I consider myself a pretty average user. I surf the Internet, check my email, and once in a while (perhaps far too often) I'll play a computer game or two. While I can not speak for every computer user on the planet, I know that I can say for a fact that my computer isn't just an appliance; it’s a major and important part of my life. In a way it is kind of like my wallet, it contains a lot of important and sensitive data that if lost, could make my life very difficult.

This is where WinBackup 2.0 Professional comes in. Instead of letting your data just sit on your hard drive waiting for an operating system error, a virus, or a hardware failure to come in a wipe out your data it allows you to adopt a more proactive posture towards keeping your important data intact.

Today we will be looking at UniBlue’s WinBackup 2.0 Professional, which arguably could be the most user friendly piece of backup software I’ve ever had the privilege of using.

Admittedly, my first impression upon using this software for the first time was less than I could have expected. While the interface and functionality looked to be very nice, there were a few bugs that were affecting its performance and stability. After a little bit of quality time spent making sure my computer was not the problem, I headed to UniBlue’s website to check for a patch. Sure enough there was a patch available, which once installed solved all the problems I had been experiencing. As a side note, I might add that the patching process was relatively painless. I opened the executable, pressed a couple of buttons and I was done, no hunting for errant processes to kill or having to tell it where to look for the program.

Easiest. Patch. Ever.

Upon launching WinBackup for the first time you are immediately greeted by a helpful window that offers to take you through a flash tutorial on how to make a backup, or allow you to jump in head first and create your own backup job. The flash tutorials are very well done, and illustrate the main functionality of the software very well. These are also available on UniBlue’s website, so you can get a nice look at the interface before you buy.
