Objectionable noise output
If Silence is Golden, the LC14 is Iron pyrite.
Initial impressions leave one rather liking the LC14; it is solid, well built, and designed to cool even the toasty 3.4 Ghz Prescott Pentium 4. Unfortunately, in order to accommidate such a system, something has got to give. In the LC14, thats noise. Upon startup, a loud ambient whirr greeted us due to the noisy 60mm 3000 RPM fans.
In our opinions, silence is critical for an enjoyable movie experience or pleasant musical entertainment; consideration needs to be made about what is most important to you; cooling or acoustics?
Listening to music is quite difficult with this computer case; the high pitched 60mm fans are difficult to tune out; those of you with sensetive hearing will find that all but impossible. As a result, it is a very good idea with this case to under-volt the fans or to purchase ones from a third party; we highly recommend Acoustifans which you can find here. Keep in mind that with quieter, lower RPM fans you lose cooling capability.
