Page 2 of 2 The first thing we noticed with the fans was that they didn't come with mounting screws. This is fine if you're just replaceing a fan, but if you're adding a new one to your case, you're going to need to find your own screws. If you're going to be paying upwards of $20 after shipping, you'd hope there would be at least the screws you need to mount the fan. Thus there's not that much in the box. A fan, with a molex and 3-pin motherboard connector and some cardboard.
The construction of the fans is superb, while you can bend and twist them a little bit (120mm more so than the 80mm) it takes a lot of twisting to crack one; unless you're intent on breaking the fan, it's not going to break in normal use. Also, the transparent blue of the fans is a great feature for anyone who has case lighting and for those of you who don't, it's easier to see what's inside your case.
The fans are very quiet during operation and move a fair amount of air for silent fans. They do emit a small constant buzzing, but it's not loud enough to hear if your further than about 6 inches from the fan. They've got good construction, decent CFM, and an O.K. price. The lack of mounting screws isn't pleasing. We reccommend these fans, as they're a good product, but for a little extra you can pick up an Acoustifan that comes with an inline resistor (for ultra quiet), 49.5 - 66.7 CFM, mount gels, and mounting screws. The Silentmaxx Silent Fan(s) receive a Bronze Award. They're good fans and have something to offer but they still have room to improve. Thanks to QuietPC for sponsoring this review.
